Disputing credit report items

do you have to buy the report from one of the 3 major agencies or can you buy them off another site.

You can get your reports for free from Annualcreditreport.com

I did this a few months ago and now they wont let you reopen the file so I cant.

thanks but thats sort of not my question. If i buy all three credit reports from say freecreditreport.com...can I still dispute items or does it have to be directly off their sites.

IT wont let me access my credit report from myannualreport because I did it a few months ago so Id rather not purchase all 3 again. IF i can just buy a 3 in 1 deal

You dispute it from the CRA's site. I'd reccomend doing ScoreSense free trial, it will show you you all 3 CRAs and then you can just cancel it, rather than paying $30+ for FCR.com

yes but for example , when I go to experian to make a dispute , it says I need a report number. SO if i buy it from an outside source , How do i get a report number?

I think you can buy just the report from EX for around $9 or so.  This will give you the report #.  Don't get the scores, they're worthless.

yes but thats just experian so thats really worthless..some report only to equifax or experian and not all 3. I wound up buying it off of scoresense but it still didnt help me because now I cant dispute nething

You don't need a report number for the other 2.
