Does anyone know if NFCU reports a newly charged off Checking account to the credit bureaus?

Had a NFCU account that got some overdrafts and I didn't realize. They just closed the account and sent it to their in house charge off department.

They wont answer anything about whether or not it will credit report.

I've never heard of a checking account showing up on a credit report unless it's sold to a collection agency. Does anyone have any experience with this at NFCU? I worked so hard to rebuild my credit and am freaking out Smiley Sad

Did you call them and see if you could pay it. I was the queen of overdrafts in the past and have had many checking accounts close because of this. They all showed up on my credit report as a loan. After I filed bankruptcy, they all deleted from my report except for one credit union, they marked it bankruptcy. But anyways to answer your question, I'm not sure about NFCU but I do know that credit unions can report if they choose to.

They have internal collections. 1-800-336-3767. Speak to a Collections specialist Monday through Friday, 8 am to 9 pm, ET. Get it paid ASAP. Then you can stay in with them. Since they got fined 28mil in 2016 for unfair credit practices. Easier to work with. Gotta pay for your hiccups either way. Good Luck!
