The CRA reporting manual and their credit reporting agreements instruct creditors not to delete a reported derog based on payment of the debt. That is a policy of the CRAs, who are in business to provide complete credit histories, and view deletion of accuracy information as not being in the interest of that goal. However, there is no prohibition under the FCRA of such deletion. It is up to the creditor.
Simply paying will not assure deletion.
However, if you secure a specific agreement from them prior to paying that they will delete upon receiving payment, that becomes a separate and express contract term that is legally enforceable, and will thus provide basis for requried removal.
