Two years ago I got a Capital One Secured card with a $301 limit.
I've waited patiently waited for a release to an unsecured card.....never came.
Opened a second UNsecured card, was given another pathetically low limit.... $300.
Six months roughly the unsecured card is doubled to $600.00 without even asking for it.
Secured card, yup no love.
Call them today to see if could get it to unsecure and I get the canned answer of it happens automatically an there is nothing that can be done. So I ask for a supervisor and I was passed off to one who thank god spoke english.
Got the same speach, blah blah.
My response was since I have not missed a payment, carried a huge (LMAO) balance on my $301credit line and that it was 1y 11m old that she could just go ahead and close the account. It's not like it is helping me anymore, my last secured card that I got converted over a month ago roughtly has gone from my original credit limit of $500 to $1,000 an is now my SMALLEST credit line.
Guess the posts about CapOne are true, once in you never get out.
If I don't start seeing some love on the QuickSilver, that will the next card to go bye bye and I will perminetly be done with CapOne not to return.
Rant over. Cary on.
The card did what it was intended for. Build credit. Who else does this to almost anyone who ask? Not many at all. You were approved with what your file had to offer. I had 2 buckets. They did their thing and I moved on. Your not happy. Close em. But dont forget your roots.
Cap 1 is an odd bird to figure out at times, it served it's pupose, good choice to move on, but you know what they say, never say never.
CapOne is an easy leap pad. After BK with Cap One I went with the following:
QS1 $750 - $3,000 - PC to Venture One - $3,500
Savor One $3,000 - $5,300 - $5,800
VentureX $30,000 - $31,000
Credit is business, treat it as such. Play their game and it works out well. Will probably go with one of their biz cards next.
For 25 months, I suffered the same grumblings.
Breaching 800 FICOs yet they extend $300 only. not even 301
Hit the CLI button weekly, and laughed and laughed
Called their customer service line, every night & told the person
"Thanks anyways, Fatima (or whoever). Good night, Good work, Sleep Well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning"
I did this for 25 months and never missed a day excepting holidays.
Other morning I was thinking deeply about Capital One
but I decide to check my email instead
"Auto CLI +1800". The most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. Thanks
I like it, as longs as they do soft pulls I might start doing that with my QS card and
see what happens.
