Goodwill Considered a Dispute?

After reading about a success story with Synchrony here in the forums, I figured I'd give it a shot and attempt what worked for them. The OP said that they had submitted their goodwill letters through the message feature on the Synchrony website. I submitted my first letter almost two weeks ago and received a response this morning stating that Syncrhony will be investigating information submitted to the credit bureaus. Has this turned into a dispute?

Sometimes they think you are disputing. You need to be clear in your letter you are not disputing anything, but rather asking for a one-time goodwill gesture on their part. Also, I would suggest sending them physical letters, not a message. The department that reads those messages is different from the one that handles actual, physical mail I believe.

I was VERY clear about it not being a dispute, but looks like it has ended up that way. I'll start sending physical letters today.
