HELP!! How Can I Fix This?

I recently PIF a charged off FP account and now EQ has updated it on my CR with the following details below.  How can I fix this?  The reporting of 90 days late is inaccurate. This account has been charged off for at least two years. How can I now be 90 days late as of 2/12?

Re: HELP!! How Can I Fix This?

I read a recent post and this has happened to others.  As long as the lates are accurate, then they are allowed to report them.  If the lates are report inaccurately, then you should directly dispute it.

Re: HELP!! How Can I Fix This?

Thanks Booner! I would not consider these lates accurate considering this account was charged off about 2 years ago. Also, TU updated the account correctly. EQ is the only one causing a problem.

Unfortunately the lates associated with a CO can continue to be reported until the account is paid off or sold.

Wow, MarineVietVet, so you are saying the OC can continue to report late payments on a charged off account? They were not reporting like that before, only after I paid the account off.

Re: HELP!! How Can I Fix This?

Their reporting was most likely just an update reported on that date that reflected a prior level of delinquency that occured on the account.

Prior delinquencies are stored under their own separate field codes in your credit file, and a credtior will often, when reporting at a later time, provide an entire account history that includes prior dates of delinquency.  It usually does no purport to be a new delinquency as of that date.

With the string of delinquencies reported, it appears that the more important DOFD could be as late as 4/2010, meaning the charge-off will continue in your CR until 10/2017.

That one delinquency is far overshadowed by the continued inclusion of the CO itself.

You can certainly dispute the accuracy of that one delinquency, but as discussed, it may not even be their assertion of when it occured, and will be almost a moot issue by the time the CO expires.  In my opinion, a lot of effort over a relatively insignifcant item, particularly in view of the other, multiple delinquencies.

Re: HELP!! How Can I Fix This?

RobertEG, well my issue is the DOFD was not 4/2010.  I believe the DOFD was before 2010. The 4/2010 should be the date the account was Charged off.
