Just wanted to share that I recently had success with an online dispute for 2 old paid off HSBC accounts showing up on all 3 CRAs. It seemed the tradelines were wrong so I disputed and requested DV. I had also been researching other's successes/failures in GWing them based on information I had read on this board about Cap 1's takeover of HSBC. Basically, it seemed like Cap 1 wouldn't do GWs for HSBC accounts because of need to report accurate info but if you requested DV, they were also not going out of their way to respond to HSBC disputes so it would likely result in a removal. Through backdoor checks last week, I discovered they were removed from all 3 accounts and today I received this overly polite letter from Cap1.
"RE Account number ending in XXXX

I have a HSBC CO that was PIF to the CA. I have been trying to remove it via disputes with the CRA's. It came off EXP but it's still on EQ and TU. Since, then I have been sending out GW letters to any HSBC/Capital One address I could find to no avail. HSBC/Capital One treats GW's as a dispute so I don't even think they even read the letters. May I ask what you mean by online DV? I am unfamiliar with this process.
DV= Debt Validation or Verification. If you do an online dispute it gives you options for what reason you are using as a basis for the dispute. Each of the agencies has a little different terminology but I disputed as not recognizing the account as mine or something along that line due to the sketchy TLs. The CRAs then contact the OC (in this case HSBC/Cap 1) for information tying the account to you. It is up to them to demonstrate to you why the info being reported is accurate. Or in this case, not respond to the CRAs at all? The removals took about 10 days and the letter arrived just today.
Nice! I will have to try that. Thanks. Although, I don't know if it will work for me since I paid the CA and HSBC/CO is showing a 0 balance.

DV is not used with the CRAs. It is only for 3rd party collection agencies.
You are talking about the online disputes with the CRAs.
If the TLs are accurate you should not be disputing them.
That wasn't directed at you. I saw where you said the TLs were weird.
I was just reiterating that no one should dispute accurate information in the hopes of getting it deleted. It is against the TOS of the forums.
