Here's the situation. I had two accounts with Citibank. One was a Shell gas card(see sig) and the other was a Citibank CC. I paid off the Shell card in 2003, but unfortunately when I sent the final payment it didn't include $2 additional interest for that month. Thinking they were paid in full and I was done with them I never opened anymore of the mail they sent me. Well, the $2 incurred a $29 dollar late fee and they closed the account, but continued to report it as closed/currently 60+days past due/2 thirty day lates(very bad TL).
I GW'd them on 8 May and received a response today that they have directed the CRAs to delete the account from my report....Yeah!
The dilemma is that on the other account which only has one 30day late from July 2003 they are asking that I provide a full credit report pulled in the last thirty days and a letter explaining the problem with the TL. I'm not disputing, just a GW.
I have two questions. First, Why would they need my credit report to see information they already have access to? Second, is having a 5 year old baddie really worth the trouble and risk of providing them my credit report?
Third question. What would you do?
