Hello, I’m 24 years old with a FICO score of 647. I just found out two weeks ago that I have an $807 bill in collections because of an emergency room visit five years ago. I had insurance at the time and I never received any bills or calls, and they had my mother’s phone number and address listed. I didn’t know any better and called the collection agency. They were very rude and claimed to have spoken to me on 2015, which I do not believe. I’ve contacted BCBS and the hospital. The billing department will mail me the claim, and BCBS told me that I can bill it even though it’s from 2012. My question is, how do I get the derogatory mark off of my credit once the bill is paid? I’m frustrated and shocked.
