@butterpecan thank you! I'm glad to hear my thread has been helpful in your journey. That is the sole purpose I continue posting on here. I find many times people selfishly abandon the forum once they get the answers they need. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. Good luck!

Hey @RobynJ thanks! I appreciate the support. I'm still in the garden. My discover personal loan finally reported on my credit and so I decided to pay off my self builder loan on the 15th. My payout will be processed on the 29th which makes it 14 days after my final payment was made. My plan is to pay off the discover loan by December of this year. I will likely look for a auto loan once I'm in the final month since that's when I'll gain the most points from it.

@MarkyB Thank you, I will always have questions LOL!😀

@MarkyB That is great but the only thing that sucks is you will lose approximately 15 points when it is PIF that has happened to me every time I've paid off a loan. They consider it a higher risk not to have a loan active on file. Crazy? Yes in my opinion but obviously not the big 3 TU, EX, EQ. It is great to see you doing well on your journey. It's funny we had similar roads we traveled and it seems we are learning what not to do to be credit excellent!!!! Keep me posted and I will do the same.

Mark I just want to tell you that I am very new on my credit journey. I have had a Cap1 Platinum Unsecured Card for 1 month with a $300 CL, I just got my Discover It Secured Card in the mail today(put $500 on it) and I have had for 2 weeks an Amazon Secured Card (put $200 on it).
I am lucky that I have no collections or bad stuff on my credit report from the 3 bureaus. However my credit history is blank, I had nothing on anything when I started a month ago. I did all my damage in 1998, 1999 when I graduated college, got an MBNA Mastercard in the mail with a $5500 CL and soon maxed it out by taking out cash advances to gamble. Maxed it out quick, called and got another $2000 increase and maxed that out too. Then I was writing bad checks left and right, ran up my company corporate Amex card to $5500 and also got a bank account with Wells Fargo. I deposited bad checks for a total of $18,000 into my Wells Fargo account and let's just say everything was a big mess. I got reported to chexsystems soon after and I couldn't get a bank account starting in 2000.
I literally was in terrible shape - got evicted from my apartment and became homeless. I didn't pay anything back and my credit score was beyond awful. At that point I just blacked everything out and gave up on ever getting credit again. I had to bank with Netspend prepaid bank cause it was pretty much all that would take me.
So now 23 years later and much older and wiser it's time I rebuild my credit and do things the right way. I'm fortunate now none of that stuff from the late 90's is showing and i can start fresh.
My point is this has been my favorite thread in this whole forum by far. I am so glad Mark you have done so well and come such a long way. You explain and break things down so perfectly it really helps understand what you went through and are going through. And same with a few others that have been commenting and replying to you.
Bottom line I have a long way to go but I'm glad I read this thread and excited that my 2 secured and 1 small limit unsecured card will start my journey to hopefully GREAT CREDIT!!
I love this forum, the people are so helpful and there's so much to learn.
Thx for sharing and I hope you still will.
Mike
