My scores are literally 20 - 40 points from being able to get new cards. I got a Discover charge off I am thinking of making a settlement to get to reflect as paid on my credit report. It is for $6000 I think think they will take $1500 - $2000 just an estiment of how many points I will get?
I do know if I could get it off that is about 125 points.
There is no set amount of points one would get. I can tell you Disco will not delete the CO. If its updating monthly you could get some points for lowering your overall utilization. Once it stops that updating over time your Fico will rise.
It really depends on so many factors. But I recently settled with Discover, who outsourced it to Convergent I think. I settled for 30%. It was past the SOL for them to sue.
My score went up about 30 points. Discover was reporting the charge off every month so it was holding down my score and jacking up my utilization.
Where are you getting that you'd get 125 points from getting it removed?
If it's Capital Mangement doing the collection on behalf of Disco - start off low with what you can settle for. They are going to start off in the 75% range, but will continue to go down to 30-40%. That was my experience and same with what I've read through multiple people here.
