What would be the best credit card? I see quite a few choices up above.
Is there a link to writing a GW letter format so I can write to Chase?I would recommend a second Cap One card to start. If you've got at least a year or more of good payment history on your Cap One card, try apping for a Barclays Reward card.
Was approved for a Cap One Quicksilver One last night. Planning on just utilizing that one for gas.
No. You want to use that card for ALL of your normal monthly spending, and go online and pay it down as often as you need to, and make sure about 5% of its limit is left to report as a balance at the end of its report cycle. The more often you get near its limit each month, and keep it paid down, the better your CLI will be when it hits the 5 month old mark. Plus you get lots of reward cash built up. In about 2 months I've built up over $60 in rewards cash on my 2 QS cards.

I have a Cap One Platinum also. I don't want to near max both cards monthly. Right now my Platinum is a $191 balance on a $501 limit.
If you've had the Platinum account a while call customer service and ask them to upgrade it to a quicksilver reward card. I got both of my platinum accounts upgraded in february.
Go and read cap ones FAQ on how to get credit limits raised. Don't be afraid to get near the limit, as long as you can pay it right back down as soon as charges post. Trust me, its whats going to get your limits raised substantially. In December I paid off both my Cap one cards, $300/$500 limits, and started putting ALL my spending through them - groceries, gas, utilities, phone, cable, internet, EVERYTHING. Paid them down as soon as they neared their limits, and made sure they were paid off on their statement date, allowing one to carry a $20 dollar balance. Three months later when I requested a CLI on both cards they went to $800/$1500 - and thats with FICO scores in the upper 500's.
I'm expecting in another couple of months they will go to $1500/$3000, as I continue to use them.
I also have Cap One Platinum $500 Get this balance $191 balance to $80 you will gain a least 5-15 points . I just paid Cap One Platinum $500 my balance was $199.26 balance reported was $ 83.26 myfico this raise 15 points =)

I like your thinking
Now when the new card comes, any tips for usage, paying so it shows I'm using it but when my scores update montly, I'm at a good utilzation. Is there a best time of month to pay down the balance?

Cap One reports on the statement close date. It will report whatever the balance is on that date. Go online and register for online account management and link both accounts, as well as your checking account if you have not yet done so. The payment due date, and the statement close date will be shown right on the account summary page. You can make as many payments as you want each month from the account management page.
I put close to 2K a month through my QS cards and only show a reported balance of $50 or so on one card each month. Been doing that since December, and its pushed my scores up at least 30 points or more (all were 550ish in november, now they are 580-600) The only monthly spending I don't put through the cards is my rent, and thats only because the management charges a ridiculous $36 fee for doing so.
