Beginning last September, I paid off one Cap One charge-off. It went to collections, so I ended up paying $400 and something. What I owed was much less than that before it went to collections when they tried to gouge me. That's before I really began reading on here and gained some knowledge.
Anyway, then I began working on the second Cap One charge-off of $3,966 before it went to collections also. I called Cap One and set up a payment plan. I was down to $1,116 after a payment the first of last month. But I listened to a couple of posters on here who stated it would continue to harm me as it kept reupdating every month. I called Cap One and asked if they could take some off of the remaining $1,166 so I couldl get it paid instead of dragging out payments for five or six more months.. They took $400 off of the $1,166 and broke the remaining balance into two payments for me and told me it would report as paid in full once I paid the balance. I paid the first half 30 days ago and just called and paid the remaining agreed-upon amount. The CR said it could take a couple of months to update as paid. But it's done. What a relief. Thanks for the encouragment.
Congrats.
