I see on my Experian CR that I have a account that I have never opened, its a quick pay day loan in the amount of $400.00 and was opened this year In April. I never opened this... Do I dispute it on Experian?
Thanks

Is the payday loan a collection account? I dont even think payday loans even report nor subscribe to the CRA's. I would call the payday loan company and get more details about the transaction. Either a typographical error when inputing the SS# or someone used your name to obtain the loan. If you know someone used your name and SS# to obtain goods or services without your authorization, you should file a police report, file a complaint online with the FTC, and place a fraud alert on your credit reports. From there you should dispute with experian enclosed with a copy of your police report and a copy of your submitted complaint to the FTC.

It is in collections. With a company called UNISTATES CA LLC. Do I still call the paydayloan company and get more info or just validate it. I gave no one permission to use my name and SS# so Im going to go ahead and file the police report and all the other procedures you told me to do.

I would ask the payday loan company to see if you can figure out whether or not someone used your name to obtain the loan. If someone used your name, continue forward with the directions. Now if the payday loan company says it was an error and their mistake, then they need to immediately recall the account from the CA and have it removed from your reports. IMO I think there has been some sort of clerical error, but better to be safe than sorry. If you are a victim of ID theft, file the report with your local PD and complaint with the FTC ==>> (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/consumers/filing-a-report.html), and forward both copies to the CA and dispute the account if they claim you owe it. Also call Transunion at 1-800-680-7289 and follow the automated directions. They will then place an alert for you on all 3 credit bureau reports. The key thing is to make sure you haven't been a victim of ID theft and the perp doesnt continue to abuse your credit. Keep us updated!Chop
Im on it... thanks for the helpful information and I will let you know what happens

StrongLady,
please start immediately with a DV letter sent CMRRR to the CA.
As you believe that this is not your debt, or that is out of SOL and out of CRTP, or that is not yours, file immediately complaints with the AGs in your and in the CA's home states, with the BBB and with the FTC.
do NOT call the CA, do not contact the CA other than in writing.
good luck!

Im a newbie to filing a complaint I was on the AG website in my state and dont know what to click? Also when contacting the BBB do I file a complaint with my state or the CA state or does it matter?
Thanks
Strong_Lady,
you can (and should in my humble opinion) file complaints with AGs in both states - you should look for Consumer Protection and\or Consumer Fraud. Some AGs have only PDF or DOC forms that you must print, fill and fax or mail, some have online forms.
You will be using the BBB where the CA is located. When filing a complaint with the BBB site (www.bbb.org) , you must input the zip code for the address of the business, and be sent to the compentent BBB in the area of the CA. Use the CA name and address.
good luck!!!
