Jefferson Capital Settlement Letter Received

Have been looking at my 4 open collections and trying to come up with a plan, and now get a letter from Jeffeson Capital Systems Inc, with an offer on a charged off First Premier account. It's from 2014-ish, and was for $443. They are offering a $221 settlement, or $50/mo repayment plans. Typical 30 day notice of receiving the notice , they assume debt is valid. Not sure of a plan of attack on this one. I got Jefferson to delete some stuff a while back with a BBB letter, not sure if that works anymore. The debt is an old debt so not disagreeing, but not sure JCS has a way to fight me. Anyone deal with them lately?

Hi, OP!

I have never dealt with JCS, but my advice to you would be to call them and challenge the settlement offer. Take this up with the BBB. Put this debt behind you! Smiley Wink

Re: Jefferson Capital Settlement Letter Received

In the same boat as you, Just got a letter from them yesterday as well, to settle a debt for 300 for 150. On a card I thought I closed it only had a 300 limit. It is not even reporting on my CR nor is JC, looks like someone did a soft pull and seen the work I’m doing on my credit file. And now they want to get some money to. I want to just pay it but I’m a little nervous as they might try to report something. Let me know how you proceed.

I tried a PFD with them, and they refused. I then wnet the BBB route, and they deleted it within a week.

Re: Jefferson Capital Settlement Letter Received

I had a Verizon bill with Jefferson Capital. They called and offered me a settlement, and I verbally asked for a debt validation before I would agree to anything. Within 2 weeks I received a letter saying they would be removing my debts from the CRAs.
