Hi! So 2 years ago, the CA Jefferson Capital reported on my CR that I owed them $700 from a Tribute card from 2008.
Last year, I wrote them two DV letters and never got a response.
So I took the next step and filed a complaint with BBB. They responded and said they will close the collection efforts and delete their TL from my credit reports. They said they also never recieved a DV, but they're going to close and delete anyway.
My question is this: Even if they close the collection, can they still sell it to another CA and then that CA can start the process all over again with me?
Also, I checked my CRs... the status has been changed to "closed" but the TL is still there... does that longer to delete? Thanks in advance for the response.
It may take awhile for it to delete. And yes, if it's a valid debt and unpaid. It could wind up with another CA.
Thank you so much for the response!
If that does happen, then I'll just ask them to validate. Because I honestly have no acknowledge of this debt or credit card.
I'm definitely someone who thinks you should pay back what you lawfully owe (if you are in a position to do so). Over the last month, I've paid off four different agencies who I didn't even have to ask for validation, because I knew of the debt and what it was for. But for this one, I honestly have no recollection.
I guess just hope for the best, haha.
Update the BBB complaint for the fact they made changes to but did not delete?
