I have a collection reporting as LVNV Funding, but serviced by Reaurgent Capital. I reached out to Resurgent Capital by email, to offer a pay for delete. I got a response that said:
Hello Paul,
Thank you for contacting us. Your account ending in 5986 (Reference Number 670577589) has been placed with Trakamerica. Please contact them at 855-400-3889 to resolve the outstanding balance.
does this mean LVNV no longer owns it, so they should remove it from my credit report?
They purchase debt in bulk, so it could be one of their subsidiary companies.
You should call them and ask them if they sold the debt (in which case they should remove), or if another company is only acting on their behalf, in which case, it's possible to end with both on the report.
My guess is they own the debt, and someone else is doing the legwork for them
Got it. Thank you! I'm doing PFDs on all my collections and this is the last one.
Resurgent is now deleting all tradelines once they're settled so a PFD request is not necessary with them anymore. Their website goes into more detail on this, but I'd suggest seeing if you can pay or settle online with them. I just settled my account with them for 50% of the original amount. They haven't deleted my tradeline yet (just paid yesterday so I'm expecting some time) but I have screenshots of their payment page, an email, and screenshots of their webiste that all confirm that they will request deletion after the payment is received.
If you cannot get that deal with them, I'd suggest looking up the other company.

This is on the LVNV website.
You still owe your debt but the new owner is LVNV Funding. LVNV Funding outsources the management of its portfolio of accounts to a company called Resurgent Capital Services. Resurgent Capital Services is a fully licensed third-party debt collector specializing in the management of these types of consumer assets. Resurgent may contact you directly or may ask one of their collection agency partners to help them reach out to you.
LVNV owns the account but Resurgent collects on their behalf. Set up an online account with them and then pay online and they'll delete the tradeline once resolved.
The problem is now Resurgent is telling me to reach out to this third party TRAKAmerica. Anyone ever have any dealings with them?
If you have CK. Look and see who is listed on your reports as the collection agency. From Tracks website it says they are a network of CA's. If tracks is not listed. They are the third party like @Remedios said collecting for either one of them. Both LVNV and Resurgent will delete even if you pay Tracks. Pay it and its gone.
10-4. Appreciate your guys help!
These people are threatening me for a 2015 phone bill thats not mine. Could you please give me the link where it states that on their payment page?
