Lost, please help

I am so overwhelmed with all the information that I am receiving from this message board. I have no idea where to begin. I'm thinking about just paying the debt and just leaving it as is. I don't want to DV anything anymore I know with 95% certainty that the debt listed on my reports are mine. The ones that weren't have been disputed and removed.

I would really like to have as much deleted as I can as my credit is holding me back from doing a lot of things in my life. My friend who was in a similar situation decided that she would just pay the orginal creditors and once that was done she disputed everything and ALL of her negative accounts were deleted because the CA could no longer go after her. I'm thinking about doing that, but I just don't know. I'm new to this and I know that I will have moments of frustration, but I need baby steps. So many people here give out the greatest advice, but I just don't know what will work best for me.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Please?!?!? Do you need to see what's on my reports? I have no problem showing them if it will help someone help me.

Re: Lost, please help

It would help to know what is on the reports, as far as the type of debt, the DOFD, and your SOL.

A lot will depend on whether the OC or the CA owns the debt.

Do not list personal info.

Re: Lost, please help

Most of my credit problems accured during the time that I was going through a very difficult divorce. I was in an abusive relationship and my main focus was just to get out. I have old utility bills, cable companys and a company called united compucredit. When I called about that particular account they said that it was also listed on my ex husband's credit report as he was writing bad checks. I tried to dispute it, but because it was a joint account and nothing in the divorce degree says that it's his debt I'm still responsible for it. I don't want to have any contact with him whatsoever so if I have to I will pay it, I would just like for it to be deleted if possible.

Re: Lost, please help

RJM Acquisitions are GREAT CA...they will definitely settle for a lot less...and do a PFD...I did mine over the phone with them...and it was gone off my reports...before I received the receipt and deletions letter...in the mail...

As for the other...search them in the above search box...and see if others had had ANY success with them...if you know the debt is yours...and valid...you can go straight for the PFD...in some cases...they CAs will deny a PFD...but accept a GW letter...and delete the TL...I had that happen to me recently...a CA told me they don't PFD...as soon as they updated with the CRAs...as paid in full...I sent them a GW letter...asking for removal...they sent me a letter...saying they were deleting...and it was gone within a week...

Always try to pay the OC...first...unless they tell you...you have to deal with the CA...

Re: Lost, please help

What is the DOLA? DOFD? SOL for your state?

How to proceed depends on those dates.

You can find SOL here -

DOLA = Date of last activity

DOFD= Date of first delinquency.......look for this on your report or look for "this account scheduled to remain until XXXXXXX"

Re: Lost, please help

I just got deleted for offereing advice to you which I fnd was not beyond the guidelines.

Did you DV these accounts?
Where they answered?
Did they prove anything?
Do you know WHO they are collecting for?
Are any of them collectiong on the SAME debt?

My response to you was to DV them and IF by chance they were not owned by that CA anymore then they could not collect and would have to be deleted, I may have worded it wrong and the mods didn't like it but this is what I meant when I responded.
