Medical debt and portfolio recovery

If I am not having luck getting creditors to PTD is it in my best interest to try to negotiate a settlement and then send a goodwill letter asking them to remove from my report later?
I have almost $4k in medical debt.
I was successful in getting one CRAbto remove several of the medical line items but not all, and neither of the other two CRAs.
I’m waiting on replies, hopefully soon, to a validation letter for one group and then a last round of PTD.

Then for portfolio recovery, I’ve paid for less than original balance to settle a long past due account. This was before I knew to ask for a PTD. How can I get this removed from my CRA now?

I’m really trying to buy a house and boost my score by about 30 points.

Since you settled and paid already, you can try sending out goodwill letters. If you search on here for goodwill letter samples, you will find plenty.

For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:

1. Call the OC and see if you qualify for Charity Care
2. If not then ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
3. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
4. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help
