Midland Help!!

Ok folks...I know this great CA has been talked about many a time. I have quite a few collections that were purchased by them (probably because they are such A-holes) excuse my French. All of the collections I have with them are way beyond SOL and all communication letters I've received state that they will not sue me for the debt due to timing.

I'd like to settle these debts, but don't have a ton of cash at my disposal. All of them will fall off of my CRs by the end of 2016, but I'm trying to clean up my reports enough to get an auto loan, secured credit card, and possibly into an apartment without paying ridiculous fees.

The Debts are as follows:

  1. OC - Target     Amount Owed: $645

  2. OC - Verizon   Amount Owed: $1185

  3. OC - TMoble  Amount Owed: $1585

  4. OC -  CItBank (Dell Financial Svc.) Amount Owed: $4379

  5. OC -  Barclay's BD $ 3693

They've offered 40% off settlement amounts on each of the debts, but I'd like to pay less if possible. I cant possibly afford to PIF on any of these. Is it laughable to think that i could possibly offer to pay 25 - 30 % on at least the first 3? They all fall off of my reports by the end of 2016? What would be your plan of attack?

If it were me id let a little more time pass and see if they come down to what you want to pay. they bought that debt for a little more than nothing.

Re: Midland Help!!

That's what I was thinking. I'm thinking to call them and make an offer..and seeing as how I am past the SOL I feel like I have a little wiggle room.

I tried multiple times to get Midland to take a 10-15% settlement on my beyond-the-SOL debt, to no avail.  Even tried the "last day of the month" trick, the "I've only got enough cash to settle ONE of my old debts, and I'm going to pay the most attr

Re: Midland Help!!

Midland is dirty. they've been sued multiple times for trying to collect on past SOL accounts. keep a close eye on them. make sure you understand everything they send you. if un doubt ....seek legal advise from an attorney. most don't charge anything for a consultation.

Re: Midland Help!!

I have heard of their dirty policies. I want to call them, but I don't want to risk them coming after me harder. I think for now I'm going to focus on getting my judgements paid and closed and then see where to go from there.
