That is so awesome you got the president to give you an exception. Hood job!
I didnt see anyone else address this so I wanted to let you know that Nelnet will not do any kind of adjustment what so ever. I tried for 2 years to get 1 90 day late removed from 2 accounts. It wasnt until I sent detailed information about the other 9 accounts they held in addition to the 2 that reported late showing all were in deferment and they made a mistake in their reporting. Then they finally agreed to remove the late. If you were in deferment at the time the lates were reported use that info to get the adjustment.
Good luck on everything!
Thank you, I wasn't in deferment but the company that originally owned my student loans sold them to Nelnet and I was never notified. I received a call from Nelnet informing me that I was 190 days late and that's when I found out. I have made every payment since then and will have my loans completely paid off before the end of the year. I have an excuse for the late payments but at the same time I should have inquired about how to make a payment when I never received a payment reminder email from the previous owner.
Well I got a letter from Nelnet todaywith their response to my GW letter.
"Dear Brent,
Thank you foryour recent credit reporting inquiry. After careful review of your account, we have determined the student loans referenced in your request cannot be ajusted, because the dispute is incomplete, invalid, or a goodwill request."
They went on to say that if I wished to submit a dispute to please provide documention and listed what documention would be needed. This is a polite way of saying no so now I will blast as many EO's as I can via email. I read in an article somewhere that once paid off Federal Student Loans are removed from CR's, not sure if this is true or not, would be cool if it is since mine will be paid off before the end of the year.

We're starting around the same scores. I started my rebuild a couple of weeks ago with much success. If you stick toyour plan and bring concerns here the group helps tremendously.
Thanks, I have not really has any actual succes interms of removals, I am playing the waiting game at the moment.
***UPDATE***
The waiting game is killing me, I sent out all of my letters two weeks ago and havent received anything by mail except for the letter from Nelnet telling me that it is against company policy to make ajustments to credit reports. I I have been waiting patently to hear back from Capital One Auto since getting their call earlier this week on my GW ajustment. Today while in a meeting with one of my customers they called and I was not able to answer. They left a message asking me to call them back which I did but no one answered so I left them a message. I am hopeful that it will be good news, it will be my first win on my rebuilding journey.
That's it for now!
***UPDATE***
Things can change in just 24 hours! I recently got my first credit card in I don't even know how many years, the Green Dot Platinum card. I received it in the mail on Tuesday and loaded it with a $200 limit the same day, and bought $25 worth of gas on Wednesday. On Thursday I made a payment which covered the gas and most of the annual fee leaving a $15 balance. Today Green Dot reported the new tradeline to the CA's and I just received an alert that I have new tradelines reporting at all three CRA's and both my Experian and Transunion scores went up 6 points. I haven't gotten a score increase from Equifax yet but I hope that will come in a day or so. It feels really good to see results this soon into my rebuilding efforts, can't wait to see what happens next.
Until the next update, everyone take care!
***UPDATE***
I have posted several updates over the past couple of weeks as they are happening. I had a number of changes that accrued over the weekend so I felt I should do another update showing everything that has happened over the past three weeks.
This is a list of the action items performed a few weeks ago
I received a call from someone in the President’s office at Capital One Auto in reference to the GW letter I sent about a few late payments I have. He told me that making adjustments to credit reports is against company policy but that the President was moved my story and has reached out to another department to see if they can make an exception. I was told that they would call me back the following week with an update. Two days later while in a meeting with a customer I received another call from the President’s office but was not able to take the call. The gentlemen I had spoken with two days earlier left a voice mail asking me to call him back. I tried calling a couple times without connecting with him so I left him a voicemail, this was last week on Friday. I have not heard back from him and have decided to give him a few more days before calling back. I also received three different letters from Netnet who I also sent GW letters too. All three letters were identical form letters informing me that they do not make GW adjustments. I also received a dunning letter from another collection agency for an outstanding medical debt from a hospital stay back in 2015. I responded to the letter the following day with a Medical DV letter. I received a letter from one of the original creditors informing me that my debt has been sold to a collection agency so I sent a DV letter to the agency the following day. Yesterday I received a letter from one of the collection agencies I had sent a DV letter too informing me that they have received my letter and were looking into the matter and gave me the name and contact info for someone I could reach out to if I have any questions.
This is a list of additional action items performed
I am rather surprised that having sent out over 100 PFD/GE/DV letters that I have only received responses from 2 of the 3 companies I sent GW letters to, no responses to any of the PFD letters I sent, and only a response from 1 of the DV letters I sent. After pulling my new credit reports through MyFico yesterday I was shocked and surprised by all of the changes to my reports.
I am quite sure that the disappearance of some of the collection accounts is a result of the DV letters and after they validate or at least think they have that the accounts will show back up. What I am confused about are the majority of the collection accounts that have disappeared that I sent PFD letters to, not DV letters. I am not sure if those will show back up or not, I have not received any responses from those agencies yet. I am hopeful that I will receive responses from those agencies agreeing to a PFD as I would like to get rid of them for good.
I plan on getting the OpenSky Secured card in a month and make a few small charges and then pay it off in full days letter keeping a $0 balance. I am hopeful that two months after that I will have made enough progress on eliminating some of my baddies that I will qualify for the Discover IT card which I will also keep at a $0 balance.
I will update again in another week with any new communications I receive and changes, until then!
***UPDATE***
Hello all, time for a new update.
It has been an interesting week, credit wise a lot has happened both positive and negative. When I started my credit rebuilding journey three weeks ago I honestly did not believe that I could make any significant progress. After pulling my credit reports in the very beginning I had 11 collection accounts (9 with CA's and 2 with the OC's) between the three CRA's, 3 accounts in good standing with lake payments (two that are already paid in full and closed and one that is still open and current, and 4 charged off accounts that are tied to four of the collection accounts.
In the plan I laid out I first took action by sending GW letters to the three accounts with late payments, I then sent DV letters to a few of the CA's and PFD letters to the remaining CA's and the 2 OC's. Here is where things get interesting, I received a call from one of the OC's that I sent a GW letter to informing me that although they were sympathetic to my situation it was against company policy to make adjustments of any kind, I received a letter from another one of the three basically saying the same thing, and have not received anything back from the third OC's with late payments. That is the only responses I have received in three weeks, not one single response from the DV and PFD letters. Even though I have not received any responses to those letters 9 of the 11 collection accounts have disappeared. The crazy thing is that the 9 collection accounts that disappeared were accounts that I sent PFD letters too, not DV letters.
These are the three remaining collection accounts, it's interesting they were all sent DV letters and have yet to respond.
As a result of the 9 collection accounts that are no longer showing up on my CR's plus the addition of a secured CC and a RentTracker tradeline my scores have had some nice increases the past two weeks. According to MyFico my Experian score has gone from 571 to 591 (20 points), my Equifax score has gone from 563 to 566 (3 points), and my TransUnion score has gone from 563 to 577 (14 points).
I am kind of at an impasse at the moment, after the 30 days have passed from the time I sent out the PFD letters I really don't know what the next step should be, since the CA's haven't responded I can only conclude that they are not interested in my PFD offer. I really didn't expect the get any kind of response from the DV letters since they were not sent in response to a dunning letter, I guess the next step for them will be PFD letters. I also plan to add two more CC's to my profile over the next few months for a total of three, two with a $0 balance and 1 with a utilization below 8%.
Any comments or suggestions would gladly be appreciated!
