Short question: has anyone ever had ANY success negotiating a settlement with them?
Long question:
Four years ago I was nearing the end of my lease when I kicked my then boyfriend out. Which resulted in a few protective orders, court dates, and ultimately I left the apartment because I found out he was entering while I was at work. He apparently caused about $3,000 in damages to this place, and because we were both on the lease, it's now on my credit.
Good news, it's not an eviction.
Bad news, it still puts me in a pretty terrible position trying to find a decent place to live.
If I provide copies of court documents could it possibly help? I feel like it's a snowballs chance but this has me in such a bad spot. I would be willing to settle, but when I've called before they are less than willing to negotiate. Or maybe I'm doing it wrong.
