NCO DV or PFD

From my list of 20 accounts in collection I have narrowed down to one I think I can fix first.  I have an NCO collection from a 1 & 1 internet account.  The assigned date was 3/2008.  Should I send a DV letter to NCO or contact 1 & 1?  What is the fastest way to remove this?

Re: NCO DV or PFD

You can contact the OC and see if they will recall the debt from NCO if you pay them.  That only works if the OC still owns the debt.  Otherwise you would have to work with NCO.

If NCO owns the account send a DV, if they validate, send a PFD.

Re: NCO DV or PFD

Thanks a bunch.  I will do exactly that.  If the OC does still own the debt and will recall the debt, how can ensure that it will remove the derog if paid?

Re: NCO DV or PFD

If they will give it to you in writing that would be good.  If not, you may just want to trust them.

Write an email maybe.
