National Recovery Agency???

They told me that they would request for the credit reporting agencies to delete the charge on my credit, but won't give me anything in writing.  Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with tehm doing this?  They are willing to settle for half of the debt and still request for it to be deleted.

Thanks

Take it with a grain of salt. They probably will delete.

Re: National Recovery Agency???

It's still technically an oral contract, and they may find it prudent to honor that contract rather than chance legal action.

Their promise is most likely recorded on their internal system, which they may not wish to be forced to produce in court.

While obviously not as good as a solid written agreement, it is better than nothing.

Promising deletion based on payment is contrary to their credit reporting agreement with the CRAs, so the probable source of their reluctance to put such a promise in writing.

If the only option is relying on their promise, it might be better than nothing.

As a side consideration, what is the SOL status of the debt, which would determine their option to seek legal judgment?

+1  I would prefer to have it in writing, but I'd take an oral agreement to delete.  Good luck!

Re: National Recovery Agency???

I called National Recovery Agency a couple weeks ago about a collection and they said they would delete if I paid it.  I didn't ask for anything in writing (because I didn't know to, I was new at this).  They kept their word.  I paid in full, and the collection is already gone.  Smiley Happy

My wife has a collection from them on her report so I'm hoping it works just as easily on that one.

Re: National Recovery Agency???

I just called and paid two collections for them. They gave me a settlement offer and I paid over the phone.  Before I even asked they told me upfront that as soon as the payment goes through they will DELETE this account from all three bureaus.  She said they would DELETE not update which is great.  From what I understand any medical debt that is paid can not be reported to the credit bureaus when the balance is O$. That is against HIPAA.

Actually yes they can be reported and even if the account is paid and has a $0 balance.

Re: National Recovery Agency???

+1, Medical debt can still be reported even if it was paid. Have you tried sending GW's? Never hurts to try, you have nothing to lose.
