Hey OP i was in the same boat as you at one point.
Treat that nRewards card right (use it and pay it off or leave a balance just no late payments) and you will be rewarded big time trust me!
It took me a year and half to get graduated to an unsecured going from $500 secured to $2K unsecured, I then hit them up for a CLI the same day this happened and got the card limit increased to $2,500 that's not the best news though.
That same day that they graduated me to an unsecured card I went ahead and applied for their Amex more rewards card and was approved for a $20,000 CL w/ at 12.9%.
Treat NFCU good and I have no doubt they'll return the favor after you prove it.
