Need Specific Advice On How to Improve CR and Score...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Below I've posted my CR info...please provide as much detail as possible on how to proceed (ie. who should get a GW letter, whether I should get the multiple listings of student loans deleted or not. Is it hurting? Not making a difference? Helping Me? Should I try to GW the lates seeing as I've always tried to keep them deferrred).

I truly need help knowing what to do next...Cleaned credit up years ago, just finished paying down $12000+ of $14000 cc debt, NOW WHAT?

Basically I'd like to know if someone is willing to go through my info with a highlighter and say, "I suggest..."

DV this one
GW that one
Leave that one alone
HIPPA for this
DO NOT HIPPA for that
etc., etc.

I'll have to do multiple postings to get it all in so keep reading...

Re: Need Specific Advice On How to Improve CR and Score...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a lot to go through. You'll have to be patient while someone responds.

My first suggestion is to send a PFD for the collection item.

Most of your accounts I would do nothing. If the wrong balances have been reflecting for a few months, then you may want to dispute. If you only paid them off/down in the last 30-45 days, give them time to update first.

For those accounts that are closed/$0 balance, no lates, do nothing - they're helping you.

For those accounts with lates - send them GWs.

This is all I've got for now. Hopefully it will hold you over until someone else has time to go through each item.

Good luck!!

Re: Need Specific Advice On How to Improve CR and Score...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree.

GW the lates on the CCs ... and be patient when it comes to the updating on balances. CCs are notorious for immediately updating CRAs with the negatives, but being s-l-l-o-o-o-w on updating the positive. Trust me on this. :/

For the FL utility bill, have you actually called them and asked them if they'd pull it from collections?? If so, have you called more than once? Sometimes, you have to keep calling until you get a human who acts human. And NEVER be shy about going above the immediate CSR -- never be shy to escalate the call and ask to speak to a supervisor. CSRs usually just speak from a script -- and that won't help you (and it's not meant to, it's just meant to end the call ASAP so they can talk to the next person in line).

If that fails, PFD'em. Keep sending'em PFDs until they cave.

For the SLs, leave them ALONE. They're good accounts in good standing and contribute to your AAoA. No touchy-touchy. And yes, they are supposed to report that way -- and will for 10 years after the close/transferred date (since they ARE in good standing). Believe me, they help WAY more than they hurt.

Again, for the CCs, just let them update when they do. That's all you can do, really, about the balances. If you dispute'em (on the basis of the balances), you run the risk of negatives emerging out of the ether -- or something else going flippy.

When they DO update, you should see a nice increase in your scores. Since you were at a high util before you paid them off, you should see, what? 40 points increase?? Probably more, really.

I understand that you're frustrated -- especially since I'll bet that that high util was the main factor in your CLDs (I've read your other posts). But you HAVE paid them down and you HAVE reduced your util considerably. I'll bet that once the CRAs actually update, you'll have a good shot at calling the CLDers and asking for a recon.

If I've left anything out, holler!! I'm about to run out and chauffer my kiddos to their activities (my, my, doesn't THAT sound pretentious?!) but I'll be back soon to give a bit more in-depth look-see into your post. Til then, hold on! It'll all work out!!

Re: Need Specific Advice On How to Improve CR and Score...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much Shnaple and Wonderin!!!!!!! I really appreciate the response and will try to call FPL...but if I call them does that not give me the chance for delete since it will be a verbal thing?

Also, we just paid the accts on 9/4 so yeah it has been less than 30-45 days. But what gets me is the ones that closed or did a CDL updated balances almost immediately so yes "s-l-o-o-o-w" is an understatement. But I'll be patient.

As for the student loans that have negative/lates, what should I do? I know you said you'll look through a bit deeper later so I'll wait to hear back from you Wonderin with more advice. Thanks in the meantime.

I wouldn't call. I would just send PFDs in writing until they agree.

Re: Need Specific Advice On How to Improve CR and Score...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I thought Shnaple...thanks for the quick confirm!!! Now do I do the PFD with a cashier's check or is this the one where you wait to hear from them first before you pay. I don't want to end up fighting for a delete after the fact. I've seen the cashier's check horror stories!

Re: Need Specific Advice On How to Improve CR and Score...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would wait for a letter back from them agreeing to the PFD before sending in money.

Has anyone sent in a check saying "only cash this check if you agree to the PFD"?

I've never done a PFD. I found this site after I paid for my collection. Smiley Sad
