Need letter to send to CA for violation

Does anyone have a sample letter to send to a CA for a paid collection that's being reported as a regular account?  Not sure if that's a violation of the FDCA or FDCPA.

Re: Need letter to send to CA for violation

Why why WHY would you want to do this???

The goal is to have NO collection accounts reporting.  Maybe they are updating every month?--which they shouldn't do now that they're paid off.

Especially if you have no other collection accounts reporting, the first CA hitting as a CA will do major damage.  Reporting as a "regular" account is not hurting you.

Is there something else about how this is reporting that is hurting you??

Re: Need letter to send to CA for violation

There has been some debate as to whether collection accounts that are listed as regular accounts are still counted as collection accounts in FICO's algorithm.  That being said, I haven't seen anyone on here be able to get a collection account deleted just based on that alone.  Are there any other violations occuring, are they reporting it as an open account or reporting lates?

+1

OP, if they move it to "Collections" you will still take the hit. FICO will still read it as a CA. Your goal should be to get it off. BTW, if the CA updates, you could see a score drop.
