It was a Cap One Credit Card.  I don't know about the auto department for them.  have you looked under the auto forum

Were all of your COs paid when you sent the GW letters out?

Yes, I had paid them all.  Discover I paid off in 02/08,  Cap one paid in 11/07, and Macy's paid off 03/08.  All I had paid on time for at least 8 months on each.  Dress Barn had lates back from 2003, than is when I paid it off.  Target the account is still open, and I owe 15$ on it, and I keep that open for UTI reasons.

It's good to know that some creditors have at least some sympathy.

Thank you!!  It has been a hard long road.  I hope to be in the 700 club soon.  I did the Fico Sim, and if I pay down my remaining cards in three months I will be there.

To what department do you send the GW letters to? Do you send GW letters to remove charge offs as well?

Great Job on your success! For those of you who need GW letters i think the main point to keep in mind when writing a GW letter is to make it somewhat personal, as the OP has proved!

Good Luck to you all, i actually faxed one yesterday and another today! Sooner or later they must give in, So keep trying!

I used the address that was on my credit report from EX.  I addressed it to Customer Service.  I seemed to get to the right person.
