Online Dispute vs DV

What is the difference? is there a better chance at one getting removed than the other?
Does a Dispute count against you on your credit report?

Re: Online Dispute vs DV

If you dispute with the CRAs and it comes back "verified" FICO will more than likely "read" it as a "new" collection.

Re: Online Dispute vs DV

It would be easier to answer your question if you could provide a little more information.

Who is reporting the account in question, an OC or CA?

Is it reporting inaccurately?

What is DOFD, DOLA, and SOL?

Re: Online Dispute vs DV

Well-
I think I made a mistake and just disputed everything on every credit report.
A lot of stuff got removed actually to my surprise but I still have some stuff on there.

You say it renewed the debt?

Where would be a good place I could get a copy of all 3 reports with dates and everything I need.
I have the True Credit monitoring right now and it really doesnt list any dates or anything.

I also just started as of tomorrow to rehab my student loans so things hopefulyl are moving in a positive direction.

Re: Online Dispute vs DV

No, it did NOT "renew the debt." Since it's going to be verified (I assume), it'll have a new REPORT date. That does not renew the debt in any way, it just makes FICO THINK it's new.

The rule of thumb is to DV the CA on UNPAID accounts. That's the best dispute method, hands down. Except when it comes to medical collections. In med collections, you use the HIPAA process.

Re: Online Dispute vs DV

There's a link to the DV process on the "commonly requested threads" post, which is stickied at the top of this board (I've provided a link below).

Additionally, if you search "DV letter" you'll find a variety of examples to choose from. You really have to pick one that you like the best. :-)
