Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of settling Some charge-offs I racked up after a really bad financial time in my life. My partner and I are back on track, so we're getting out credit cleaned up to look better for apartment hunting.
I've already settled one charge-off to Goldman Sachs for about 50% of the balance. Just waiting for it to update on my credit report.
I have three left over that were assigned to CAs with some offers:
Citi -> Phillips & Cohen Associates: 1944/3533 for 55% settlement (won't go lower and updates monthly; offer "expires" on March 26)
Synchrony -> MRS BPO: 1413/3533 for 40% (negotiated but won't go lower; offer "expires" on March 28)
Synchrony -> Monarch Recovery Management: 1700/4097 in 2 payments for about 40% (negotiated down from ~2600)
Should I just pay Citi/PCA first since Citi updates monthly? Or does it make more sense to settle the other accounts for less?
Welcome @BlackCreditNewb
If Citi was the only CO it would be best to settle with them first. With the offers you have now with the other 3. Get them over with. You wont be able to get back in with Citi either way. Congrats on getting them all in the past. Time will do the rest.
Thank you! I'm finally almost there.
I was able to negotiate Citi/PCA down to 1400.
On to the next!
Cool. One by one they all fall down the dominos say.
