Re-building credit with many charge offs

Hi first I want to say Im a big fan of the forums!

I've searched for help for a couple of weeks, but havent been lucky.

I currently have 10 negative accounts with 8 collections. Many of these are old charge-offs the earliest one is from 2008. I've tried contacting several of them but they ask for outrageous payment plans that I can't afford. Currenty I have 3 credit cards Secured Cap one, Authorized user Cap One, Walmart, and 2 revolving accounts student loans and fingerhut. I have not been late for any of the currently opened accounts and I try to keep balances low. Recently I applied for a car loan and got approved still in process (fngers crossed).

My current scores show as Equifax 529, Transunion 515, Experian 508, Walmart FICO 595

I would like advice as in what to do or what other steps to take in order to re-build my credit.

Thank You!

Re: Re-building credit with many charge offs

I applied for the Walmart card last year maybe because of the holidays? Also maybe because their FICO scoring seems to be much higher than the one Equifax website shows.

Welcome to the forums.

Who are reporting, the OC, CA or both?  Who have you been contacting?

Can you post a couple of the TLs at a time so someone can look at them.  Omit personal information.

For optimum FICO scoring, it is best to let all but one report a 0 balance and the other report at 9% or below.  YMMV and you can tinker around with the %.

On the AU card, is it in good standing with low utilization?

Re: Re-building credit with many charge offs

Basically what you will need to do is clean your report up.  You've built new credit with your CCs and the auto loan.  But those baddies are going to hold you back.  Maybe you can start trying one at a time.  Just save up and try for a PFD.

If you have a Walmart CC and sign up for paperless billing, they give you your TU FICO 08 score for free every month.

Re: Re-building credit with many charge offs

All three are reorting the Collections and Charge Offs, I tried contacting the Collection Agencies but one asked for 3 payments of $1000, when I said it was too high they said t call back when I had the money. Smiley Frustrated

These are some of the numerous accounts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Re-building credit with many charge offs

I had a charge-off with CFNA and I got a settlement (I paid $490 for $790) and they are reporting paid in full and a $0 balance! They were very easy to work with.
