Hello All,
Its been a while since I last posted but I've been great...thanks for asking lol. I started my rebuilding journey (and accompanying strategy) in september and already seeing progress. My primary goal for sharing is to encourage because often times we feel as though our efforts go nowhere. Just so I don't repeat myself, my original post explaning my credit situation is here: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/Rebuilding-Strategy/m-p/5041116
So, I applied for and received the C1 Platinum Card in September - limit $300. By diligently following the well-documented 'steps' talked about so many times on these forums, I applied for a credit limit increase after the 3rd statement cut and was approved for $100 (total now $400). Not much but still something. Just last week, I was online and asked a rep for an upgrade to the Quicksilver NOT Quicksilver One and was connected with an account specialist. After reviewing my account for what seemed like forever, the upgrade was approved and I should receive my new card in about 5 days. Super excited! Looking forward to my 5th statement and automatic CL increase. Like I said before, C1 has been good to me when my credit was horrible and I plan to stick with them for the long haul. Next stop, Venture Travel Rewards Card by mid 2019. Slow but sure. I'm still making montly payments on charge off accounts and haven't missed a payment.
As we enter a new year, I'll offer the following:
1. Be diligent and patient. Building good credit takes time and as you can all attest to...lots of strategic planning and effort.
2. Please do not repeat old mistakes with credit. Personally, I find that writing them out helps bring them into focus so I can remember what went wrong the last time and not repeat them and/or be proactive about it.
3. Always reach out to the community with challenges because guess what, thousands have already experienced what you're going through and are ready to help.
All the best in the New Year!
PS: I'm not sure if it'll help but the C1 account specialist mentioned that reasons for the upgrade included on time payments (never missed a payment); multiple payments within a billing cycle (made at least 3 payments per cycle) and low monthly balances (balances always below $10 to keep utilization low). I hope this helps.
Congratulations on your rebuilding success so far! Thanks for sharing your story!
Congrats on your progress. Keep up the good work....and Happy New Year.
