If you can get NFCU membership - that is where you should start. Apply for nrewards or gorewards cards and if needed they'll approve for secured instead. I understand that they do graduate. You can also check preapprovals from Capital One - might get an unsecured or might not. But there is a start for you.
O.M.G. APPROVED! Capital One Classic Platinum w/ 3K CL, 0% APR until Jul 2014, 22.9% afterwards, $39 AF! We're back in the game!
*hi-five* Nice call, themizlyne!
This is such a relief, but I won't be wasting what I've learned on here. I'm getting those GW's out and gardening this bad boy for all it's worth! Thanks again!
My NFCU secured card was converted into a regular nrewards card with a CL of 2k after 6 months of good use. I didn't even have to ask

I'm super tempted to apply for a NFCU card now. I thought I was done with apps after my Cap1 Classic Platinum approval, but I just keep hearing good things about NavyFed's cards.
I'll probably just go for an unsecured card tho, seeing as I got approved for a Cap1 unsecured. But do you think having a savings balance of $0.18 will have a negative impact my app (I haven't used my NavyFed account in 10 years)?
Well, just put in an app for a NavyFed Visa Signature Flagship. I'll get a reply in 3-5 days. I did it because many on this forum said that they usually give counter-offers so it's ok to go for broke with them.

Federal law allows you to get at least one free credit report each year from each of the three credit bureaus. You can also get a free credit report in certain situation, for example, if you’re unemployed and preparing to look for a job. Some states have laws that allow you to get a free credit report. These states include:
- Colorado - one free per calendar year, then $8
- Georgia - always free
- Maine - one free per 12 months, then $5
- Maryland - one free per 12 months, then $5
- Massachusetts - one free per calendar year, then $8
- New Jersey - one free per 12 months, then $8
- Puerto Rico - always free
- Vermont - one free per 12 months, then $7.50
Score! My state lawmakers doing it right for once.

I'm confused on the SOL on baddies. I don't have any charged off accounts so I can't use the DOFD, correct? I eventually got on a payment plan with all my delinquent accounts, and they were all paid in full and closed with a 0 balance. So when would something like that fall off someone's report? Do they use the date of the first late payment or the date when the account caught up?
So looking at the below account, the first baddie is on Jul 2007 and the last baddie is May2008. When does this baddie fall off?
(FYI, this report may be disputable since I started paying again in Dec '08, and that was why it didn't get charged off. I wasn't late 330 days as this seems to suggest.)
