Rebuilding my Credit Brick by Brick: NOW AT 650!

I checked my Experian report after paying for the first month $4.99 and it updated today to 649! My goal scores across the boards is 650, so I am quite close on one report which I'm ecstatic about. It is still reporting some debt on one of my credit cards, I've paid the Credit One down to $0 and my Merrick card to $0. My Capital One QS is reporting under 9% as advised.

I am hoping my 580 TU and 585 EQ follow suit into the 650 area even though the simulator said I'd reach 620-633, so I am very happy and have my fingers crossed.

I am hoping it's not an error, I went from all maxed out cards basically, like 90% UTI to 9% on just one card and got approved for a JCrew card at $250 limit.

I'm really hoping it's not a glitch.

Checking my Experian report I saw the following:

 On record until

Aug 2018

Convergent Outsourcing:
Date opened
11/2015
On record until
Jul 2018

PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES:
Date opened

I'm confused and did ask around and Im still confused, haha. Date open is 2014-2015 yet it will be on record until 2018-2019? That sound right? If so I am going to hold tight, keep paying on time and hope to God these fall off!

Thank you for all the help so far, it has gotten me from 580 to 650!!! So happy, was singing in the shower this morning and everything Smiley Happy

Nice job! I've been rebuilding my credit as well. It's kind of addictive after you really get into it all. I think from my understanding is that accounts don't start their fall off date until when the first delinquent report was made for the account.

From there it then takes 7.5 years to fall off but I could be wrong. I am sure that one of the more experienced posters will roll through here to verify info for you.

Yeah I have seen your posts Smiley Happy

That is rather unfortunate, I feel you're definitely correct. I don't get why it says on the report until then. So SOL in IL is 5 years, so that is how long they have to sue me?

That was exciting while it lasted, hey still up 70 points since the start of rebuild. I will take what I can get.

Re: Rebuilding my Credit Brick by Brick: NOW AT 650!

Quick question but does it show that "until then" on your report that you get from here? I see my collections on my report but doesn't give me any "until then" date.

Just wondering...

As for the amount of time for them to sue you. I guess they have that whole time to eventually come after you. But of course I think that some of that varies from state to state. I could be wrong on that but I'm sure a veteran might verify that for us.

Being up 70 points is no joke! I'm up a little since joining here. But I know that last year around this time I was in the low-500's. So I have in a sense at 100+ on all 3 reports now. I am hoping that I can break into the 700's soon.

Re: Rebuilding my Credit Brick by Brick: NOW AT 650!

Oh ok! I guess maybe I should pull that one and check it out. I'm lucky that when I really screwed my credit up it was back in my early-20's so now all of that has fallen off!

Re: Rebuilding my Credit Brick by Brick: NOW AT 650!

The "open" date is just the date that particular CA opened the account and doesn't correspond with the DOFD with the OC.

Re: Rebuilding my Credit Brick by Brick: NOW AT 650!

Ok so I got out of bed so I can understand fully what's going on. I'm reading now my Equifax report and here are my collections and DoFD, I was looking at date open account -_-.

Portfolio Recovery

$1058     DOFD Oct 01, 2012

Midland

$797       DOFD Nov 01, 2011

Those are the collections on my Equifax, I will update other 2 collections by looking at the other report. Please advice, pay or wait. Thank you.

Re: Rebuilding my Credit Brick by Brick: NOW AT 650!

Midland should delete if you pay it based on their new policy but that still would leave you a collection on your report so you wouldn't see much score change...but it would look better to have it gone and the other show a $0 balance. You could always attempt a PFD on the other one first.
