Removing Closed Accounts

My apologies if asked before.
I had a Verizon account that was like $300 past due and I didn't know until I received the collections letter. It was reported to all 3 bureaus. It was paid immediately back in April. The payment status reads "paid, was a collection account, insurance or government claim, or was terminated by default." When should this be removed, or should I contact someone to get the account removed?
Thank you.

Re: Removing Closed Accounts

It'll be removed roughly seven years from the date it went delinquent and never recovered. You can try a goodwill letter campaign to the collector that's posting on your reports but they're under no requirement to give in and remove it.
