Removing Paid Collection from 2010?

I have a Paid Collection on my TU report (last baddie on there!) from 03/2010 which isn't estimated to fall off until 05/2016.

Is there a way I can have this removed? If I contact the original creditor, would they be able to remove it? Thanks.

I have not tried anything yet, would that be the best way to go?

I would send a goodwill letter to the OC to see if they will remove it for you. I'd send one maybe once a month and see what you get back from them. Smiley Happy Good luck!

Any potential at all that if I contact them, and they refuse, the collection could somehow appear on all 3 bureaus? Say they update something on their end?

It's always only shown up on my TU report and not the others.

Re: Removing Paid Collection from 2010?

If they had only been reporting on TU I'm guessing thath's how it would be. If they never reported to EQ or EX before, then I'm going to assume since they didn't update ALL 3 to the paid reporting when you paid, you'll be fine.

Fortunately for you, you have already paid it, so they can't sue for the debt, either. I'd send the letter. You can choose not to, though. Smiley Happy

Re: Removing Paid Collection from 2010?

Wellllllll, my DH did have LVNV update also to TU after his gw.  Grrrr, YMMV.

Usually, they don't bother though.  LVNV are just twits!  They added it onto Experian, but I don't care about them.

I really have had the BEST LUCK by calling first and discussing the removal.  I have had several removed this way.

Social Media also helped me out with COX COMMUNICATIONS.

I have received NO's from any gw letter that I've sent out.

As stated above, YMMV, but I personally either emailed or called for every single PFD or GW that I did.
