Removing a CO that has been sold

I had a charge of to JCPenney for $751 and it was sold to an agency that I now how almost paid off. Is there anything I can do with JCPenney? They say they haven't sold it but equifax report says it is sold and JCP charged off $251. My score is slowly improving, but oh so slowly and I am working on things again.

Re: Removing a CO that has been sold

Sale of the debt does not require that they delete the reporting of the fact that they took a CO on the debt.

The CO remains unless you can obtain a GW deletion from the creditor.

If the CO sells the debt, they are required to promptly update the balance to $0.

Any derogs reported on the account remain until they become excluded of the creditor voluntarily reports their deleiton.
