Reporting a card lost/stolen and how it reports in your credit report

I have lost 2 cards in my life both within the past 3 years.

Both were Sync cards Walmart and JCPenny.

Within a few weeks after reporting it lost/stolen it looks like it was split into 2 accounts.

1 Marked as closed $0 balance with all the history on the card.

The other marked as opened also with all the history on the card.

I wonder if it acts this way with all cards or if that's just Synchrony?

Given the way that it is behaving for me wouldn't it make sense that:

  • If you can use additional positive trades
  • and the account has been open long enough so that it will help not hurt your AAoA
  • Why not report it lost/stolen and get the extra postive tradeline reporting?

There are too many changes on my report to see if there was any point increase as I have paid down a lot of debt, aged off some inquiries and had other accounts age > 2 years.

What are your experiences and thoughts?

Has anyone reported Comenity and Visa/MC lost/stolen and how does it report for you?

Everyone of mine lost/stolen has been removed from my CRs by the creditor and the new account is reported with the entire history. This is a fluke and no I would not be using this as an opportunity to create more accounts for AAoA purposes.
