Just rec'd a letter from Hilco that my account was "settled in full". However, isn't that language kind of contradictory? We DID offer a settlement amount and we DID pay it...but normally settlement letters go into more detail saying "a settlement was accepted on this account." This is the exact language: This letter is to confirm the status on the above referenced GMAC account. On June 6, 2006 your account charged off. In turn your account was sold to Hilco Receivables,LLC. We received your account from GMAC on December 20, 2007. The above mentioned account is settled in full. Please feel free to contact...yadda yadda. I wonder if I could submit this to the bureaus and they update the account to "paid in full"? What do you guys think about submitting a GW letter to ask for a delete?
