Had a victory with my DH's credit today. We've been working on paying his charged off credit card accounts, collections, and medical bills and over the past year have seen some great score increases. In December of 18' his credit scores were high 400's and as of today he is at 629 EQ 604 TU and 620 EX! We decided to stop by our local credit union to see if we could get an approval with someone that wasn't subprime. He currently has a creditone account and a blaze both with 600 dollar limits. He still has two collections on his EQ and a Verizon charge off of 1,500 that they report as a loan. We paid off 4 charged off credit cards and the last one finally reported a few days ago and he got a major jump from 570's to the current scores.
They took a look at his credit and approved him for a 1500 dollar credit card at 12.9%! Said if it keeps improving to come back in 6 months and they will lower the rate and up his limit! *we do all of our banking through them and I have been with them since 2015 and have a 10k credit card with them*
He was shocked and I was too. I thought I would have to do a joint application for him to be approved but they said nope, we can do it!
He does still have a 9 dollar balance reporting on one charged off CC because they told him the wrong balance when he inquired about paying it off. We will be sending a check off for that. There are several other medical collections, a reposession from 2015 *unpaid*, and a few other collections that are on other reports that we will be working on paying off. Excited to see his credit get better!!
