Long story short- I got divorced in 2015 and couldn’t manage my Chase account ($5000). Fast forward to February 2020; I settled with collection agency. This payoff/settlement report hit my credit, hard. I thought the impact started on 10/2016 when I made last regular payment. Does my 7 year smudge start in 2016, or does it reset to current because a transaction was made to clear the balance?
