I began to work on my credit about a month ago after being told my credit score was 5 points short of the 640 needed for a home refinance. I began with a EQ FICO of 608 and TU-FICO of 622. I confess I became addicted to reviewing this site and had many sleepless nights reading post after post, but it was all worth it. I started with 2 small medical collections, I collection for a mobile phone that have not had in over 8 years that was reported in 9/2012 and showing active, 2 accounts with one 30 day late and one account with two 30 day lates and one public record , a released tax lien. I had one medical collection removed by PFD and one was paid and deleted by all 3 credit bureaus after I submitted proof of payment. I disputed the collection account for the mobile phone and it was deleted. I disputed the released tax lien with TU but it was updated and was not on the other 2 reports. I also paid down my credit cards from 66% utilization to 44%.
My lender pulled my credit on 3/27/13 and my scores were EQ-663, TU.- 668 and EX- 681. Today I was approved for car refinancing from my work credit Union with a rate of 3.3% down from 10.2 % and was approved for a platinum Visa with a $5000.00. I also received a $500 CLI from Chase. No more applications for several months. Will work on tending my garden. I could not have made such good progress without all of you. I still have a long way to go, but I am encouraged to continue to take control of my finances and credit. Thank-you all again.
