Hi, I am rebuilding a very bad credit history. I used lexington law and they got several things removed. They tried to get late payments removed from GM Financial, but they sent me a letter stating all of the reports met FCRA requirements and would therefore not be removed. That is fine, but then they put a comment on the account saying the consumer disputes the information but it meets requirements and it knocked my score down 17 pts (FAKO, FICO doesnt come in for another 10 days). The car loan was paid in full and closed in July of this year. there were 5 late payments on the account, four 30's and one 60. What is my recourse here? Do I have to get the comment removed before I can get a mortgage loan in 3 years? Any advice would be appreciated.
I forgot to mention, the actual account is not in "Dispute" status, its just a comment on the account.
The comment that it was disputed is correct, and the comment that is was found to meet FCRA requirments is a statement of resolution of the dispute.
Thus, you no longer have a pending dispute, and the dispute per se is no longer affecting scoring.
I am curious as well about this. I read some where that an acutual comment about a dispute is not good if seeking a mortgage?
I'm curious as well because the SAME EXACT situation happened to me with Lexington Law and my Conn's account. Same verbage is now o my credit report and score got knocked down, however it was a few months ago for me and my score is recovering. However i'm worried less about the score and more about the comment affecting the mortage aspect of it.
I just wanted to post an update here - it looks like the reason the score got knocked down is not because of the comment, but because while the account was in dispute it wasnt being factored in the fico score. When the dispute was removed and the comment added (which by the way CreditSaint told me was actually a courtesy to the consumer), the account was factored into the score again and the late payments on the account knocked the score down. The credit specialist said its very easy to get creditors to remove these comments prior to applying for a mortgage,
