Best case scenario is they owe you $30. Is the juice worth the squeeze?

There are fees associted with default. Just because it was $270 when you stopped paying does not mean it stayed at $270 when the BK settled down.

but they are secured... the moment you file BK and they receive notice...your account is closed to further charging and interest should stop accruing... and the security deposit should be offset to the current balance...

You should have been sent the difference...

This would require the BK judges approval. Once someone files BK they have no right to offset anything without approval and if there was no proceeding to do such then OP is entitled to a complete refund.

not with SECURED Creditors... its not really an offset... its acting on their security interest
