Weird Medical Collection Question

Hey there folks...

So here is my situation...nothing major as I see it, just want to make sure I'm right on this.

Had an old medical collection that was roughly 600 bucks.  Paid on it, till it got down to 365ish.  However, I kept watching the credit reports and it kept saying that it was to fall off on NOV of 13.  And of course, it did.

So, here we are today.  Account has officially been removed from all CR's but now I'm getting letters from collection agency saying that I', past due.

I thought it was my understanding that once that account has fallen off it can no longer be pursued as a debt.

So question is: Why are they trying to collect a debt after its fallen off?

"just trying to get my credit up..."

Re: Weird Medical Collection Question

It's still a valid debt and probably within SOL since you've been making payments. It's just past the credit report time limit.

Re: Weird Medical Collection Question

CR exclusion has nothing to do with collection of a debt.

Even your state SOL has nothing to due with that, unless you live in WI or MS.

They can continue to collect forever.  And as stated you could possibly restarted your state suing SOL and could be sued.
