What does an OC need to send in response to an OC letter?

When an OC sends to a response to an OC letter what exactly do they have to send?

Do they have to send your signature, billing statements, invoices, etc.?

Is a statement from them saying the account has been sold enough?

As some of you may know I've been at odds with HSBC and the three CRAs over what is consider adequate proof of validation.

It seems the CRAs feel that a letter stating an account has been sold is enough.

After receiving a letter from HSBC saying the account was sold I copied it and sent it in to the three CRAs and they responded by saying this was acceptable as proof of validation.

Somehow I would think more information from the OC would be required.

*Bump*

I didn't think OCs had to validate debts! Did I miss something??

Isn't that what an OC letter does? Asking the OC to verify the account.

The way I understand it is, that the only time you can do this is after it has been verified through the CRAs but I could be wrong.

Then in order to verify, one would think they'd have to send some documentation that proves the debt is yours and I was just wondering what they would need to send

You are correct.......the OC must have verified with the CRAs first.

If they do not answer the OC letter....file a complaint with the FTC.

Contact an attorney that handles federal consumer complaints. The OC is in violation
