What is considered a recent major derog?

my last derog was 120 days / almost 2 years ago.  Is this considered recent and for how long? 

It did charge off and payments are now being paid directly to CA (which they validated).  I'm paying them, in full, and intend on asking for a gw deletion.

I have seen a 120 day show was a recent when it was almost 7 years old.  I know they will impact your score for around 7 years.

Personally, I think some of it has to do with the way the CRAs post information.

As with anything else YMMV.
