Why GW letters might be bad.

Just to give you guys a heads up, I have sent numerous GW letters. I had 1 work which was good. The rest though, the companys took it as a dispute. So now 2 accounts I never disputed CapOne and Wamu(Providian), show that I had disputed the account at some point.

I never denied being late on my payments and asked for them to remove it(read many GW letter examples here). Just wanted to share my experience.

On a side note, my score is now high 600s or 700s Smiley Very Happy.

I had that happen to me also, with Sears and Wells Fargo. But....It didn't really hurt me any scorewise and the ones that did work certainly made things look alot better.  As I posted earlier, GEMB/Dillards completely removed every derogatory notation my account with them had on it.  It really didn't help scorewise, (old closed account) but if I have to have a manual review when we app for mortgage, it certainly looks good now compared to what it did look like.

Wow, I am getting ready to send one off to CapOne...so I appreciate the info. Did they write back to you? What did they say?

Re: Why GW letters might be bad.

I would still send it out, no harm done. They may remove it, or refuse to.

I got the same letter stating my account is correct and accurate, etc etc. Just an auto generated one saying all information is accurate.

I wonder if you keep sending them, can they mark your account as frivolous? I don't know why they would think it is a dispute. I just wanted to give a headsup so no one gets screwed over somehow by this Smiley Happy.

Re: Why GW letters might be bad.

The same thing seems to be happening with PFD letters.
