Re: Zombie debt help please!

Was it by any chance for a payday loan?

I have a similar very frustrating situation for something from at least 10 years ago.

Well past SOL, also incuded in my CH7 and discharged oh and also illegal in NJ due to it's usuary interest rates.

They called my estranged brothers ex-wife looking for me.

The "debt" gets picked from new companies from time to time who always threaten to come to your place of business and serve you.  I picked up a call on Friday at work and they knew my social security number and everything.  They are rutheless and annoying as heck and it seems like there is nothing you can do to stop it because a new company will pick it up  every so often and try in vain to collect.  It's super aggravating when they call family memembers but it's not CashCall/Western Sky it's a fly by night zombie debt purchaser so you can't really take action against them.  If you sick CFPB on them it just goes to another zombie debt purchaser.

I guess to them it's all in the percentages and maybe they can scare some percentage of people into coughing up money.

Re: Zombie debt help please!

Thank you! Both my sister and mom have voicemails of them saying they are going to serve me at place of employment & home about this debt if I don't contact them immediately . They are fun. I did not ask for validation, just that they send me something about this since I was not aware of owing anything. The lady on the phone said she was sending debt validation. We will see what they send, if anything. Regardless, I guess I just wait to see if they do attempt to sue me, then fight on grounds it is out of SOL?

They are not going to sue you if it is past the SOL- think about it logically and what statute of limitations means. That is just a scare tactic. They know that they are SOL (not statute of limitations meaning! LOL) & are trying to scare you to give them some money.

Not a payday loan, old bank overdraft fees. It is not on ChexSystems any longer, it was at one time though.

It is still annoying. Will see what they come up with when/if they send anything in the mail
