Hi, this is about the only thing left to get rid of. I was an authorized user on a khols card years ago. My mom got alzeimers and this late got by us. It's set to fall of august this year 2023.
It is also an old account so i'm sure it lends to my length of credit history. Is it likely to be benifical to remove this early? The late is likely not hurting me much anymore.
I'm applying for a mortgage soon and would like to get my file as neat as possible.

If the late was from a card where you were the authorized user then my understanding is you could have disputed this all along and had it removed from your reports.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!
Yeah and I thought I had but I guess not. It was confusing too because it says paid as agreed no lates but then I look and sure enough there is one burried.

If you were an authorized user, you can cnotact the issuer and ask them to remove you, and the information from your file, and you can contact the CRAs and dispute this as "not responsible party for this account".

You could do this, but if the account is helping you out as much as you think it is, could you possibly just wait for it to fall off? For what it's worth, if it's only a single 30-day late, it's pretty much not affecting you at all at this point (very minimal impact by now).
There's no way to get a single isolated late removed early besides a GW removal from the creditor themselves.

So oddly enough I have DPs concerning a very similar scenario, as far as a single 30 day late anyway. I had a single 30 day late in June of 2016. It was the last payment on the account before it was listed as paid in full and closed ( a car loan, maybe that makes a difference?). I disputed the late payment with all three CRAs. Equifax and TransUnion both came back verified and it stayed in place. Experian however, didn't seem to even bother with verifying it and simply deleted the late payment almost immediately from the account (less than an hour after the dispute was filed), and I got a 18 point jump on that score. Fast forward to a month ago, I contacted TU for an EE for being too old and they deleted the whole account and that gave me a 39 point bump. I'll be doing the same with EQ come May 1st and interested to see what I might gain (if anything) from them. I'm going to let the account fall off EX organically since there's no derogatory remarks on it.

^ That. You can't get rid of the late except by getting the account removed.
At nearly 7y old, I would just let it ride.
My wife had a Kohl's single 30day in 2017. Goodwills were denied in 2018. I/we disputed in 2020 and had it removed. I STRONGLY suspect that the height & chaos of COVID (the right people not being in the office?) helped her out, but I have absolutely no proof of that.

For everyone that says you cannot get the late payment removed without removing the whole entry, this is false.
I just did this with TU on EE for an old car loan. It's paid in full, and shows as paid and closed, but a 30 day late pay was showing. I requested EE with TU for the 30 day late pay itself, not for the whole account. The late pay was removed and the account now shows paid, closed, never late.
I've also seen a lot of people say that you cannot request EE for just a late pay. But I just did it and within about 2 weeks, TU processed my EE request and did exactly that. Ask not, have not. I would ask for it. The worst they can say is 'no' and it doesn't re-age the entry or cause you harm at this point if they deny your EE request.
Although, in your specific case, just disputing and saying you were not the responsible party for the account should be enough.
